About This Project

After 20+ years of working in food & bev, Gerry decided it was time to open his own business. His dad always wanted to own a pub, so Gerry wanted to fulfill that “dream” for his deceased father. The most important part of this project was to capture the true feeling of a traditional country Irish pub. Gerry and I (Kelly) spent 3 weeks in many pubs around Ireland to research every aspect of the traditional pub to be able to bring that ambiance to those stateside. It was a gamble for sure, considering pubs in Ireland don’t have TV’s, don’t serve food (you go to the local Chippy down the street) and thrive on community, craic (enjoyable conversation) and live music. American Irish pubs are much different. Luckily, the community of Johns Island was up for this and over 9 years and A LOT of hard work, we and so many others found a home away from home, met so many wonderful folks and experienced a very special place that will not be forgotten and will forever be evolving.
